Ep.171 – George Farmer: An Everton pioneer
Jamie Yates from Everton Heritage Society joins the podcast to share some of the research he is doing into Oswestry-born George Farmer who won two Wales caps in the 1880s. Farmer was one of Everton’s two original professionals; the first international footballer to play for Everton; and is a key figure in the club’s early professional era.
On Saturday 23 March, the Everton Heritage Society are rededicating Farmer’s gravestone at Anfield Cemetery in Liverpool, followed by a reception at which The Mighty George Farmer Band will play an acoustic set. More information here.
