Ep.157: Remembering Alan Davies
On the occasion of this season’s FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion, 40 years after the two clubs faced each other in the 1983 final, our Leon Barton wrote for Nation Cymru about the sole Welshman to figure in that final – Alan Davies.
Davies played for Manchester United, Newcastle and Swansea and won 13 Cymru caps but injuries hampered his career and he eventually took his own life in 1990 aged only 30.
Leon and Russell are joined by member of The Barry Horns and Swans fan Chris Leek who recalls fondly watching from The Vetch terraces a gifted player.

Ar achlysur gêm rownd cyn-derfynol y Cwpan FA y tymor hwn rhwng Manchester United a Brighton & Hove Albion, 40 mlynedd wedi i’r ddau dîm wynebu eu hunain yn y rownd terfynol ym 1983, ysgrifennodd ein Leon Barton am Nation Cymru am yr unig Cymro i chwarae yn y gêm yna – Alan Davies.
Chwaraeodd Davies i Manchester United, Newcastle ac Abertawe ac ennillodd 13 o gapiau i Gymru ond llesteiriodd anafiadau ei yrfa ac yn y diwedd lladdodd ei hunan ym 1990 dim ond 30 oed.
