In this episode Russell and Leon are joined by former Wales captain Laura McAllister.
Laura recalls her childhood experiences of being drawn into football in Bridgend and in the Llynfi valley and subsequently at secondary school, and then at Millwall while she was a student in London.
Laura then explains how, having returned to Wales and joined Cardiff City Ladies, she was part of the group that made representation to the Football Association of Wales for formal recognition of a national women’s time.
In 2021 Laura stood for election as a Uefa rep on Fifa and surprised much of the continent by running the victor so close. Will she stand again? Laura reveals her intentions and explains why ex-players should to have a greater say in the running of the game at all levels.
Yn y rhifyn yma mae Russell a Leon yn cael eu hymuno gan cyn-gapten Cymru Laura McAllister.
Mae Laura yn atgoffa ei phrofiadau plentyndod o cael ei thynnu at bêl-droed ym Mhen-y-bont a Chwm Llynfi, yna yn yr ysgol uwchradd, ac yna gyda Millwall tra ei bod hi’n fyfyrwr yn Llundain.
Ar ôl dychwelyd i Gymru ac ymuno â Menywod Dinas Caerdydd, mae Laura yn egluro sut oedd hi’n rhan o’r grŵp a aeth i’r Gymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru i ofyn iddi i gydnabod yn ffurfiol y tîm menywod cenedlaethol.
Yn 2021 safodd Laura dros etholiad i Fifa fel cynrychiolydd Uefa a synnodd cryn dipyn o’r cyfandir gan redeg yr ennillydd mor agos. Fydd hi’n sefyll unwaith eto? Mae Laura yn dadlennu ei bwriadau ac yn egluro pam ddylai cyn-chwaraewyr gael mwy o ddweud mewn rhedeg y gêm ar bob lefel.
